NEXT STEP MUSIC: INSTRUCTION & COACHING

With over 25-years of international touring, studio and teaching experience—and a life-long student himself—DAVID GOODRICH brings a joyful, discovery-based, experiential approach to teaching designed to meet you where you’re at and take you to the next level.

INSTRUCTION: Guitar, Mandolin & Banjo (Beginning Through Advanced)

Establish or deepen an existing practice. Gain solid technical and conceptual skills grounded in the language of music. Learn how simple techniques and applied theory translate into fluency and freedom. Break through barriers to enjoyment and advancement. Weekly, monthly, or occasional.

COACHING: All Instruments (All Levels)

Performance, audition and studio preparation. Song and project development. Guided listening and practice plans. Innovative techniques and applied theory to increase fluency in the language of music. Individualized plans to break through technical, creative or conceptual roadblocks and gain new freedoms. Weekly, monthly, or occasional.

MASTER CLASSES: All Instruments (Intermediate Through Advanced)

Single-session and multi-part workshops for groups or individuals on applied theory and simple but innovative techniques to gain new fluency, freedom and practical possibilities. Topics include: Improvisation, Accompaniment, Triadic Possibilities, Single String Theory, and Intervalic Possibilities, among others. Rates, location and duration are class-specific.

EXPERIENCE

Berklee-trained and fluent in a wide range of idioms from rock, pop and country to jazz, improvisation and experimental, David Goodrich has studied with Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson and Mick Goodrick among many others. He has taught for 25+ years in private, community music school a college settings. 

A veteran touring musician, session player and producer, he has played and recorded with hundreds of artists including: Chris Smither, Allen Toussaint, The Indigo Girls, Erin McKeown, Loudon Wainwright, Haunt, Tinnarose, Birds of Chicago, Peter Mulvey, Lori McKenna, David Hamburger, Willie Porter, Mike Meadows, Redbird, Rose Polenzani, Andy Friedman, Jeffrey Foucault, Kris Delmhorst, Caroline Herring, Stephan Crump, Rusty Belle, The Suitcase Junket, Cold Satellite, Danny Schmidt, Carrie Elkin, Josh Buckly, Chris Cheek, Tom Beckham and many others. He has scored multiple documentaries and independent films.
